My family, the Larson's, immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden; they came with nothing in their pocket, and like many immigrants, migrated to the U.S. in hopes of a better life. My grandparents were both teachers, and worked hard for the American Dream to support family and community.
My American Dream is no different than my Larson family. After receiving an undergraduate degree, I joined Teach For America to teach high school math in Inglewood, CA. Through teaching, I learned the best way to support community is through education. And I saw teachers impact students more than any textbook, laptop, or school facility could.
Years later, I built Larson Collection, a fashion lifestyle brand, to support communities that have an unequal opportunity to reach the American Dream. Larson Collection pledges to give 50% of profits to teachers serving low-income communities. We need strong teachers to empower our youth, so that one day, we will live in a world of equal opportunity, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual-orientation, or socio-economic status.
